Audrey Hepburn: An Elegant Spirit Book Review

She’s been well loved for years.  Whether it be through her work on the dance floor, her grace behind the camera, her compassion for impoverished children all over the world, or her permanent print in the fashion industry, Audrey Hepburn has, at one time or another, touched all our hearts.

In this beautiful and poetic dedication to his beloved mother, Audrey’s son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, fondly remembers a woman not many people knew…Sure we all remember Audrey from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Fair Lady, Funny Face, or her work with UNICEF, but very few people remember Audrey as a mother, a wife, and a friend.  In this beautiful book, Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit, Ferrer shows us the real woman…the brutality of her childhood, her passion for deserving children, and the unconditional love she had for her own sons.  Filled with hundreds of photos from Ferrer’s personal collection and the Audrey Hepburn Estate collection, this is the book for Audrey’s fans…and a GREAT idea for the special woman in your life (Mother’s Day is coming up…).

An Elegant Spirit isn’t so much a biography as it is a dedication.  Ferrer started writing it the day after Audrey’s death…and the book reads as if he’s sitting there next to you, explaining each picture in the collection.  A few personal stories from family and friends are thrown in here and there (Fred Astaire simply gushes over her!), and by the end, you’ll feel as if you’ve known Audrey personally.

This book will inspire you…empower you.  This is the story of a woman who stopped at nothing to achieve her dreams…and who would sacrifice everything for those she loved.

NEXT WEEK: Passover is coming!!  Next week we’re traveling through the Old Testament with some of the most powerful women in the Bible.  If you’re a member of a book club, a Bible group, a religious group, or just interested in women’s studies, you’ll wanna tune in.
