Big News…My ETSY Store is Now Open!

For as long as I could remember, I’ve loved the art of crafting.  When I was in kindergarten, I’d make books about my family and cover them with all the Scratch-n-Sniff stickers for added effect and experience.  I taught myself to knit, crochet, paint and sew…and I still continue to explore new trades and teach myself new things (I just bought a wood burner that I’m super excited to learn to use!).

I grew up in a house that was decorated with handgoods from top to bottom.  The ceilings of our house were painted, the closets were painted, the kitchen was decoupaged, our furniture was decoupaged.  There were handmade cups in our cabinets, hand-painted art on the walls.  Our Christmas tree only sported those ornaments that we made for our parents and handmade gifts were always preferred over store-bought ones.

When I started The Hob-bee Hive, I did it as a way to motivate myself to continue crafting and learning new things.  I’d push myself to be creative, even when I didn’t want to be, and tried to learn from my mistakes and challenge myself see every day items in a new light.

As I started to learn and grow as a craft designer, I began to get requests for handmade goods.  Amidst pushing from friends and family, I decided to open a small online store in the early 2000’s.  I sold a few things here and there that I made as part of my collection of crafts on my blog…but my online store never really stuck.  I never had enough inventory to keep up and I wasn’t motivated enough to provide what my customers were looking for…

But it’s time to turn over a new page.

After months of planning and preparation, I’m happy to announce the grand opening of Between the Pages, my official online ETSY shop featuring all kinds of projects and crafts inspired by my favorite books and stories.

This has been a passion project for about a year now and I’m so excited to finally see it come to fruition!  I’ll be featuring and selling a few items I’ve promoted on The Hob-bee Hive recently, as well as several others that I’m super excited to share with you!

Though Between the Pages only exists as a virtual space right now, I’m hoping to eventually take my shop on the road and pop up in craft fairs around the area…and hopefully be able to meet some of you in person!  😀
